Truth be told, it’s been a while since I’ve sat down and really just sketched. I have piles of old sketchbooks filled to the brim, but somehow that habit was lost just after college. I think I focus so much on final pieces that I lose sight of the freeing powers of letting lose in a sketch book. This year, I’m making a point to fill at least one book…
Do you keep a sketchbook?
The pen in the photo is my new Parker Pen- which is a dream to sketch with!

I have so many sketch books. I love just drawing when I’m bored. But I normally don’t work in pen. Do you like using a pen to just sketch?
Also I love your work!
I do!
I have (literally) piles of sketchbooks!! The worst for me is when you do a little cleaning… and you have to let go of some of them, in order to have space for many more (or anything else in your life, I guess!).
I like to sketch with ink… it’s so different than just using a pencil, don’t you think?

Its amazing! I can’t draw.. :(
I love that drawing in you photograph. I have plenty of sketchbooks. Most of my final works are in a sketchbook.
Oh my goodness can you tell us about that gorgeous pen?!
I used to sketch, I have lots and lots of sketchbooks at my parents house. Now I use notebooks and they are filled with ideas and lists and only tiny doodles. (Both are just as fun to flip through.)

I constantly keep sketchbooks, currently have three on the go for my personal work and two for college! I paint, sketch and use ink in mine to plan out possible pieces and generally play around!
Sounds like a good plan to me! Ive been slacking a lot the past couple months, i need to do this more! And this pen looks gorgeous and super smooth to work with. Im a sucker for savory pens :)
what a beautiful pen and sketch!
I started keeping a sketchbook again last year but there were some months when I neglected it a bit so I’m trying to sketch more this year. :)
I made a resolution to sketch. I use my Paper app and have an actual sketchbook. It’s freeing, even if I’m not a good drawer.
In high school, I would fill a sketchbook in about 3 months. In the 11 years that have passed since then, I doubt I’ve filled 3. I love the look of a new sketchbook though- so much clean creative space.
I don’t keep a sketchbook. I also have a tendency to get caught up with finished pieces. I even sketched something last night, then discarded it when it wasn’t something I deemed blog-worthy. Of course before the blogging days I never would have just tossed a sketch, good or bad.
Which is essentially my long-winded way of saying I understand why such a thing could be missed, even (and especially) by a goal oriented professional artist.
